We provied to 300 primary school students (both boys and girls) through Learning Centers. These centers offer non-formal care and extracurricular activities in four locations situated in neighborhoods where risk situations are constantly experienced. This initiative aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children who might otherwise be exposed to adverse conditions.
In these Learning Centers, students receive reinforcement in core subjects such as mathematics and Spanish, ensuring they keep pace with their academic curriculum and improve their proficiency in these essential areas. The academic support is designed to help students overcome learning challenges, improve their grades, and build a strong foundation for future studies.
Beyond academic reinforcement, the program emphasizes holistic development by incorporating training in life skills and emotional intelligence. Through experiential workshops, students engage in activities that foster self-awareness, empathy, effective communication, and problem-solving skills. These workshops also promote the practice of core values such as respect, responsibility, and teamwork, which are crucial for personal and social development.
The activities at the Learning Centers take place in the afternoon, from 1 to 4 pm, from Monday to Thursday. This schedule allows students to attend their regular school classes in the morning and benefit from additional support and enrichment activities in the afternoon. The structured yet dynamic environment of the Learning Centers provides students with a balanced routine that supports both their academic and personal growth.
The experiential workshops are designed to be interactive and engaging, often involving group activities, role-playing, and hands-on projects that make learning enjoyable and impactful. These sessions are led by trained facilitators who create a supportive atmosphere where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring new ideas.
In addition to the academic and life skills training, the Learning Centers also offer a variety of extracurricular activities, including art and crafts, sports, and music. These activities not only provide a creative outlet for students but also help them develop talents and interests that contribute to their overall well-being.
